Description |
A regulations that establishes: (1) the requirement for a permit from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to operate a milk-hauling business or to sample, measure, or collect milk from refrigerated tanks used to store milk on dairy farms; (2) milk cooling and storage temperature requirements as well as minimum construction and installation requirements for equipment used to cool, store, or transport milk; (3) and uniform procedures which must be used by permitted milk haulers for collection of milk samples.

Goals of Regulation |
1. The protection of the public's health, safety, and welfare with the least possible cost and intrusiveness to the citizens and businesses of the Commonwealth.
2. The ensuring of the safety and quality of milk produced in Virginia by establishing temperatures at which milk must be kept on the farm and in the dairy plant, and by establishing equipment-design, construction, installation, and use requirements which protect milk from contamination during storage, transfer, and delivery.
3. The establishment of standards to be used in collecting and evaluating milk samples.
