| Action Summary |
This regulatory action is needed to amend and reissue the existing Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) General Permit Regulation for Vehicle Wash Facilities and Laundry Facilities. This general permit establishes limitations, monitoring requirements, and other special conditions for point source discharge of wastewater from vehicle wash facilities (primarily car wash and rental car businesses, car and truck dealerships, local or government fleet vehicle and equipment washing) and laundry facilities to surface waters in order to maintain surface water quality.
The existing general permit expires on December 31, 2027, and must be amended and reissued to cover existing and new wastewater discharges from such sites.
