Deletion of a requirement for practical experience in 18VAC150-20-130:

A) No student shall be qualified to receive practical training unless such student shall

be duly enrolled and in good standing in a veterinary college or school accredited or

approved by the AVMA and in the final year of his training or after completion of an

equivalent number of hours as approved by the board.

The petition will be published on February 24, 2014 in the Register of Regulations and also posted on the Virginia Regulatory Townhall at www.townhall.virginia.gov to receive public comment ending March 24, 2014.  Following receipt of all comments on the petition to amend regulations, the Board will decide whether to make any changes to the regulatory language.  This matter will be on the Board’s agenda for its meeting schedule for June 11, 2014.

On June 11, 2014, the Board voted to adopt the amendment requested by the petitioner by a fast-track action. The Action has been deferred to the next board meeting due to incomplete listing of comment from Townhall in the Board's agenda package.  On October 22, 2014, the Board voted to initiate rule-making by publication of a Notice of Intended Regulatory Action.
