The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) welcomes public comment regarding the submission of the renewal applications of the Family and Individual Supports (FIS) and Building Independence (BI) 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Services Waivers to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. 

This notice serves to open the 30-day public comment period, which begins on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 and closes on Wednesday, March 30, 2023 at 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).  The 1915(c) HCBS Waiver renewal application can be located at:

DMAS is required to submit a renewal application every five years for the continuation of home and community-based services.

Electronic Submission:  Comments may be posted on the Town Hall or sent to ddwaiver@dmas.virginia.gov.  Please include PUBLIC COMMENT in the title of your email.  Comments may be sent within the body of an email or placed within a Microsoft Word document.
