House Bill 1146 of the 2006 General Assembly Session directed the Board of Social Work to evaluate the education and training requirements for social workers to determine if they are adequate to assure the public of professional competency and requests that the Board evaluate whether the current exemptions from licensure requirements best serve the citizens of the Commonwealth.  The Board is providing opportunities for stakeholder involvement by convening a focus group to work on definitions for the scope of practice of social work.
