Purpose of the meeting
The Virginia Board of Education will convene on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to transact the following business: Approval of Agenda; Approval of Minutes; Executive Session licensure cases; First and Final Review to Certify a List of Qualified Persons for the Office of Division Superintendent of Schools; First and Final Review of Consent Agenda Proposal for Executive Session Licensure Hearings; First and Final Review of Revisions to the 2024 Board Meeting Dates for September 2024; Final Review of School Performance and Support Framework and Revised ESSA State Plan; Final Review of Proposed Revisions to the Virginia Public School Bus Specifications; First and Final Review of Updates to the Board of Education Approved Courses to Satisfy Graduation Requirements for the Standard, Advanced Studies, and Modified Standard Diplomas in Virginia Public Schools; First and Final Review of Action on One-Year Local Eligibility License; First and Final Review of Finalization of Periodic Reviews of Regulations; First and Final Review of Action on One-Year Local Eligibility License; First Review of Regulatory Actions Resulting from Periodic Reviews; First Review of Technical Revisions to the Bylaws of the Virginia Board of Education and Policies Regarding Remote Participation and All-Virtual Public Meetings. The meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the Library of Virginia, 800 East Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia, 23219. The entrance to the building is located on Broad Street. The Library of Virginia opens at 8:30 a.m. All meetings, except for the closed session, are open to the public and will be livestreamed on the VDOE YouTube channel. The agenda and meeting material are available on the meeting page on the VDOE website: https://www.doe.virginia.gov/data-policy-funding/virginia-board-of-education/board-meetings-agendas-and-minutes The Board of Education will accept public comment in advance of the meeting through the Board of Education Comment Form. This form collects public comments for review by the members of the Board. The Board accepts comments from the public on all matters related to public education in Virginia. Comments may be submitted at any time but will be collected and shared with Board members as part of the meeting materials for its next scheduled business meeting. The Comment Form may be accessed here: https://forms.office.com/g/ksfTdq2NKq Members of the public may signup to address the Board at one of its scheduled business meetings by using the Board of Education Public Comment Sign-Up Form. Requests to address the Board should be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled business meeting, but may be requested at the meeting at the discretion of the President.
