| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing convened by the Department of Environmental Quality to receive public comment on a draft permit modification to allow changes in the closure construction including use of tack-on diversion berms and use of a geosynthetic clay liner in place of compacted clay in the closure cap system which will both result in an increase in the overall landfill capacity. The permit modification also includes minor changes to the leachate tank and clarification on permit history. The public comment period begins on July 7, 2021 and ends on August 26, 2021. The draft permit is available at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/permits- regulations/public-notices/land-protection on the DEQ website. The public may also review the draft permit and application, by appointment only, at the DEQ Blue Ridge Regional Office named below. An appointment is required due to COVID-19 public health and safety concerns. | |
