| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing to receive comment on a draft permit from the Department of Environmental Quality for addressing post-closure care of two closed hazardous waste management units at U.S. Army Radford Army Ammunition Plant located in Radford, VA. The permit will allow the facility to continue post-closure care of a hazardous waste management disposal facility. DEQ accepts comments by hand-delivery, e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. DEQ also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. To make a statement at a public hearing, write your name on a sign-up sheet available before the meeting. You may sign up only for yourself. The time allowed for each statement is set by the hearing officer. The public may also write to the address below to be added to the facility mailing list. The public may review the draft permit, fact sheet, and application at the DEQ, Blue Ridge Regional Office at 3019 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia, 24019 every work day by appointment. Copies of the permit documents are also available at the DEQ, Office of Waste Permitting and Compliance, 629 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219 and at the Christiansburg Branch of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library System (125 Sheltman Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073). The public comment period begins on May 1, 2014 and ends on June 19, 2014. NOTE: An information briefing will be held before the public hearing from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | |
