| Purpose of the meeting The Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing to receive comment on a modification to the Fairfax County I-95 Sanitary Landfill located in Lorton. Fairfax County has applied for the modification in order to expand Phase III B of the ATLL Unit, redesign the Sediment Basin No. 26 to include a forebay, revise the Leachate Collection System to include the expansion area, and to increase the final slopes from 3.5:1 to 3.1:1. The proposed changes meet the requirements of Virginia Solid Waste Management Regulations. In addition, the permit modification allows the facility to change the final grades of the Citizen’s Disposal Facility and include retaining walls to improve functionality, to include design, technical specifications and Construction Quality Assurance Plan updates, reflecting the above referenced changes, and to incorporate revised Landfill Gas Monitoring Plan into the permit, to reflect changes to the perimeter gas monitoring network. DEQ accepts comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. The public may review the draft permit and application at the DEQ office specified below.
