| Purpose of the meeting The Department of Environmental Quality is holding a public hearing to receive comments on a draft permit for the Orange County Sanitary Landfill located about 4.6 miles east of the Town of Orange and 0.4 miles south of the junction of State Route 20 and State Route 625 (Porter Road). The Orange County Department of Public Works has applied for a permit to construct and operate a new sanitary landfill. This facility was originally permitted in 1994, but has not yet been constructed. This permit modification will update the documents to the current requirements. DEQ accepts comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. DEQ also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. The public may review the draft permit, application, and variance request at the DEQ Northern Regional Office in Woodbridge, Virginia. A copy of the permit document is also available at the Orange County Main Library – Sedwick Building, 146 A North Madison Road, Orange, Virginia 22960. The public comment period begins on May 19, 2011 and ends on July 8, 2011. | |
