Nursing Home Liability Insurance

Clarifies the liability insurance requirements for nursing homes: Each nursing home and certified nursing facility shall maintain, per facility, non-eroding general liability insurance coverage in a minimum amount of $1 million per occurrence, and professional liability coverage in an amount at least equal to the recovery limit set forth in § 8.01-581.15 per patient occurrence, to compensate patients or individuals for injuries and losses resulting from the negligent or criminal acts of the facility. Failure to maintain such minimum insurance limits under this section shall result in revocation of the facility's license. Each nursing home and certified nursing facility shall provide at licensure renewal or have available to the Board proof of the insurance coverages as required by this section;
