Health insurance; carrier business practices, provider contracts
Purpose of legislation
Health insurance; provider contracts. Requires that each provider contract include a provision prohibiting a provider from discriminating against any enrollee solely due to the enrollee's status as a litigant in pending litigation or a potential litigant due to being involved in a motor vehicle accident. The bill provides that the State Corporation Commission, if it has cause to believe that a provider has engaged in a pattern of such discrimination, may submit information to the Board of Medicine or the Commissioner of Health for action.
