Amend regulation to eliminate the requirement for court order to amend the sex on the individual’s birth certificate
Purpose of legislation
Eliminate the requirement that a court order indicating that a person’s sex has been changed by medical procedure is needed to amend the sex on the individual’s birth certificate. Upon request of a person and in accordance with the requirements of the Board of Health, a new birth certificate shall be issued to show a change of sex. The bill requires the State Registrar to furnish the form that must be completed by the health care provider from whom the person has received treatment, stating that the person has undergone clinically appropriate treatment for gender transition.
