Document ID VSWCB-DCR-046
Summary This guidance document provides guidance to dam owners on which devices, methods, or systems may be used to lower the water level in a reservoir created by an impounding structure. Drains and related devices allow lowering of the reservoir ahead of a major precipitation event, during repair or maintenance of the dam, to relieve pressure on the dam as needed in response to an inspection or evaluation by a professional engineer, or in response to other operational and maintenance issues.
