Summary |
The mission of the Homeless and Special Needs Housing unit (HSNH) within DHCD is to
ensure homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring. To that end, HSNH administers a
continuum of state- and federally-funded homeless service programs to address housing and
stabilization services for individuals and families at-risk of or experiencing homelessness in the
commonwealth. HSNH works closely with communities and an array of service providers
including nonprofits, units of local government, and housing authorities, to ensure
comprehensive homeless services are provided effectively and efficiently in accordance with
best-practice models to maximize limited resources. HSNH administers three grant programs: the Virginia Homeless Solutions Program (VHSP), Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA), and the Virginia Housing Trust Fund (VHTF |
