This document is intended to assist teams of educators and parents as they work to address student needs related to the referral, evaluation, and identification of students with disabilities in Virginia public schools. This document is also intended to assist Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams and related service providers as they work to address student needs related to the referral, evaluation, and provision of related services to students with disabilities in Virginia public schools. This Guidance Document provides information on the regulatory requirements and best practices for the evaluation and eligibility process and practices for the evaluation for and provision of related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) and the related federal and Virginia special education regulations. |
