These guidelines and rules are published by the Department of Taxation (“TAX”) to provide guidance to retailers and consumers regarding Virginia’s Energy Star and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday, provided for by Senate Bill 867, House Bill 1678 (Chapters 817 and 176, 2007 Acts of Assembly) and House Bill 1229 (Chapter 554, 2008 Acts of Assembly). The sales tax holiday will be a recurring event, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the Friday before the second Monday in October of every year and ending at midnight on the Monday immediately following. The annual Energy Star and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday will expire on July 1, 2012. |
