Part XI 18 vac ac 110-20-420 items 2 page 62

2. A signed order by the prescribing practitioner shall accompany the request for a Schedule II drug, except that a verbal order for a hospital patient for a Schedule II controlled substance may be transmitted to a licensed nurse or pharmacist at the hospital who promptly reduce the order to writing in the patient's chart.

Question: Can a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant take verbal order for Schedule II medication from the physician they work with and have the prescriber sign within 72 hours?

What if a nurse practitioner is working temporarily as a nurse?
