Refugee Resettlement in Virginia

It is with great appreciation that Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington supports the ongoing efforts of the Refugee Resettlement Program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Department of Social Services is a key partner in the success of agencies who operate within the Commonwealth, providing means to continue serving refugees until they are eligible to apply for citizenship. As one of the many resettlement agencies who provide services, we stand ready to continue supporting new Americans who arrive to our communities in search of safety. Refugees flee their homes due to persecution and fear. Often they have waited years to find a durable solution to the disruption of their lives. We welcome individuals with no formal education as well as those who have graduate level careers in their home countries. Virginia benefits in so many ways as a result of welcoming refugees through resettlement. These funds are critical to continue serving and supporting new Americans on their path to self-sufficiency. From girls who have never been to school in their home country of Afghanistan to medical professionals who re-enter healthcare careers in our region, each individual’s story and contribution is valuable. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington is grateful for the continued approval of refugee resettlement in Virginia and looks forward to continuing the long tradition of welcoming newcomers.
