I have been fishing the Shenandoah River, North and South Forks, since I moved to Virginia in 1986. I have fond memories of my son and I catching smallmouth bass on many sections of the river, and as my son grew from boyhood to manhood, we always had the river as a place to come together with nature. Today, we still fish the Shenandoah and the Potomac rivers and their watersheds. However I have become increasingly alarmed over the past several years about the deteriorating environmental quality of the river and its watershed.

There is encouraging news about the pending regulation of Poultry Waste, and I vigorously support this proposal. This is a positive step in getting control of our local environment and ensuring the health and welfare of one of our country's most beautiful river systems. Let's ensure we are taking the right measures now to preserve the health of this irreplaceable resource for future generations.
