Jeff, My name is Bryan Bowman. I live at 311 Black Bear Rd. Maurertown. I recently 5/30/09 found dead mature bluegill with golfball size lesion on head area. Also a friend went fishing the same day and found allot of dead fish with lesions on them just up river from my place. To me the state of Virginia should be embarrassed as I am when I have family come in and ask me how the fishing is all I can say is it might as well be a desert its so trashed and polluted. Jeff its obvious chicken manure is probably 90% of the problem it doesn't take 100 scientist to figure this out! Jeff I know for a fact about the time all the fish kills started the place where I work was unable to give away free lime to the farmers any more do to business obligations this was a natural chemical that fertilized fields with no harmful effects, when that ended everything was chicken manure " even from out of state wv was put on Virginia soil" I think due to no lime and all chicken manure, this is the recipe for a natural disaster.Instead of spending millions of dollars on scientist, maybe the state should use that money to subsidize lime for the farmers and really manage where all this chicken manure goes. We pay a hell of a price for everyone in the country to get chicken, and farmers making 15 more rolls of hay at a cutting. Lets hope someone at the higher state level can do something about this problem, I have 2 little girls who really would like to have a place to fish and enjoy for then next 50 years. The only other option I have is to build a pond as I myself love to fish and we always practice catch and release.Sincerely, Bryan A. Bowman
