This policy violates children and parents with religious convictions and forces violation of conscience of which both are protected in our country’s and state’s constitutions. It imposes impossible expectations on children to adapt immediately to fluid pronouns and to be comfortable in vulnerable environments like bathrooms and locker rooms with those with different body parts. I don’t want any child to feel rejected or misunderstood, so current rules against bullying and harassment are valuable and sufficient. Anything more is prioritizing one people group over another and that is always detrimental to society. Our children need to learn to coexist with each other despite our differences. This policy weaponizes one preference over another. It will not protect our children nor benefit their development.
