I support the new regulation as currenly written, but  I feel as  though it needs to be amended and am therefore joining the hundreds of others that have already posted in asking for a hearing on allowing the open carry of handguns in state forests.  As has already been pointed out, allowing open carry would bring state forests into compliance with a formal opinion (08-043) published in September 2008 by the Virginia Attorney General.  The current patchwork of gun laws is confusing; allowing both open and concealed carry would simplify the law and make it less confusing for citizens.
