On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades and its UA Locals across Virginia, we support continued regulation of the Backflow prevention device workforce.  

Backflow devices protect the public and it should be ensured that only properly trained, skilled craftsmen, work on these devices.  They prevent contaminated water from reentering a building and contaminating the clean water. Because of the adverse health issues that could be caused if poor quality work is performed on a Backflow device we ask that the state continue to regulate the workforce.

We also ask that the state recognize ASSE 5110 certification as equivalent to the current state certification.
