Backflow testing is critical in keeping a drinking water system safe. Therefore, testers need to be required to have training on testing backflow devices properly. In the absence of proper training and certification, anyone could be allowed to test a backflow prevention device and certify it as a "passing" device.  Accurate testing and maintenance of backflow devices are essential for the prevention of potential contaminants into public water supply.
