I strongly encourage the licensing of landscape architects. In all of the jurisdiction where my land development engineering and landscape architecture consulting firm practices there are extensive ordinances and codes that govern the plan preparation and approval process. Although I understand that a lot of the design can be done by non-licensed designers it is important to have a design profession guide the design, review and certify the design, and implement the design in an effort to assure the liability of the design falls on the individual who as mastered requirements to become a profession.
