Support for Continued Licensure of Landscape Architects

I am writing to support the continued licensure of Landscape Architects in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Virginia resident, graduate of Virginia Tech, and practicing design professional for over 42 years in Virginia, I can attest to the importance of the licensure of Landscape Architects and their direct responsibility to the health, safety, and welfare of all Virginia residents. I am the President and CEO of a 30 person Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Landscape Architectural practice in Virginia Beach.

Our work has encompassed aviation, hospitality, senior living, parks, recreation, schools, housing, commercial, retail, and institutional development. Our current work applies our specific talents in coastal design including living shorelines, coastal resiliency, recurrent flooding, and sea level rise. The profession of Landscape Architecture in Virginia is in the forefront of all of these major natural systems and the design that affects all Virginia residents.

We request that you continue to license Landscape Architects in Virginia as do all 50 states in the United States to assure the Virginia general public is receiving  competent landscape architectural services from highly educated trained and tested Landscape Architects.

Thank you
