Open slowly and safely for the health of all

The health and safety of every school employee and 63,000 students in Chesterfield County is vital. Opening too quickly with too many people on campus will lead to increased coronavirus cases, significant illness and potential death. Please start with low numbers on campus every day with distance learning on days at home. Be creative. Maybe more high schoolers could learn from home, thus opening more space for social distancing. Please require masks or plastic face shields and dividers. PLEASE DO NOT CRAM THE BUSSES AND SCHOOLS FULL EVERY DAY! Illness will spike. Parents will send in sick kids. Let’s ease into a new normal that utilizes all available resources. We do not want to lose lives or make people severely sick because we rushed to school. Please stand up to the push by the Chamber of Commerce and ALEC by doing what’s right for CCPS and our children. Thank you.
