Masks Should Not be Required

If you choose to wear a mask, it should be a personal choice. Most of the deaths in Virginia have been among older Virginians in confined spaces like nursing homes and group living situations. If you want to wear a mask, wear it. Masks seem to give people a false sense of security since most cloth masks do not protect the wearer like a surgical mask would. The threat of death from coronavirus for a person under 70 is less than the flu and since we have never worn masks to prevent that, I am not sure why a mask mandate is necessary in this case. Scientific studies show children do not spread coronavirus in the same way as adults and they should also not be required to wear masks in school.  Frequent hand washing and some social distancing makes more sense for everyone to prevent any disease. Wearing a mask should not be mandated.
