Virginia Organizing's Comment on Emergency Temporary Standard/Emergency Regulation 16 VAC 25-220

Virginia Organizing, which represents thousands of people from Lee County to Accomac, urges you to vote in favor of the Emergency Temporary Standard/Emergency Regulation 16 VAC 25-220 by the Safety and Health Codes Board.  We are very glad the Department of Labor and Industry has proposed these new regulations.

As we have seen in the outbreaks among poultry workers on the Eastern Shore and the Shenandoah Valley, every essential worker needs effective protection for their health during this pandemic. Everyone who is being forced back to work by Virginia’s re-opening and the end of unemployment funding will also need effective protection. A job should not be a death sentence for workers or for vulnerable people in their families.

Please pass these new regulations on June 24. Thank you for your work to make Virginia a safer place to live and find employment. We hope you will continue to improve the working conditions of everyone who is at risk of exposure to this virus.
