The second wave is upon us and it is clear as we look to our brothers and sisters around the globe: reopening schools in person, especially without necessary social distancing measures, will result in the death of our students, their families, and their teachers. A wave of death that will overshadow our first wave will not only cause irreparable traumatic damage to our students, but it will only further destroy our economy. Listen to teachers and medical professionals who are doing their due diligence to protect lives. Any child unnecessarily lost to COVID 19, simply because selfish adults cannot be inconvenienced with fabric over their face, or because adults refuse to listen to scientific experts, is one life too many. You have heavy decisions to weigh on your shoulders, and I sincerely hope you are able to make the moral one.
