Masks and face shields in restaurants

Restaurants are deemed to be medium risk environments but people who are asymptomatic Covid carriers will be eating and drinking and exposing staff to risk. Staff should be provided and required to wear both shields and masks, to protect themselves from those uncovered.

Diners should be encouraged to wear shields to limit the spread of aerosols.

Hand sanitizers should be available throughout all facilities. Bathrooms should have cleaning materials available and users encouraged to wipe surfaces touched.

Stores should be required to have masks available for shoppers who do not have them. Signs should explain that masks are required for employee safety as well as other shoppers who may have family members with compromised health. Remind folks that the disease is a killer - a mask is a little inconvenience that may save a life. None of us has proof that we are not an asymptomatic carrier today.

We need to do more marketing to raise awareness of the stakes and what it means to be a good neighbor.  Willy Nelson, a new Pete Seeger, Beyonce ... (there is plenty of expertise on how to reach audiences and many who will donate their talent)

Need to make testing, tracing and PPEs priorties. We have no national leadership. Virginia should use funds and collaborate with other states to make this happen.
