As a virologist and a public health professional, I would implore the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall committee to ensure that all children that attend schools be required to wear face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. The protection of teaching staff from the deadly illness is incumbent upon every person that attends the school. Everyone must play their part in preventing the spread of this disease, not just the teachers. Please mandate that parents will need to ensure that their children are wearing proper face coverings when they are attending classes (especially those that are held indoors).
