In previous comments, individuals remarked that conversion therapy is a matter of freedom of speech for the counselor.  Counseling isn't about the counselor's agenda and will.  Therapies support the wellbeing of the individual.  The matter is about best practices and supporting the whole health of an individual.  Conversion therapy seeks to dictate a preset agenda, not explore an individual's personal journey.  Evidence based, best practices, and ethical principles should dictate what therapies are involved in treatment.   Conversion therapy has been shown to be in opposition to core therapuetic concepts and ethical standards.
