"Conversion Therapy" not supported by empirical evidence, and causes significant harm

"Conversion Therapy" is not only philosophically problematic (trying to "fix" something that is a natural part of human diversity), but ineffective.  Empirical evidence shows that it does not work, and does cause very real harm to people who go through the experience.  There is good reason for banning this harmful practice, as evidenced by bans already in place in New Jersey, California, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont, New Mexico, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, Washington, Hawaii, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Massachussetts, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico, as well as many additional counties, municipalities, and communities.  More details are available through https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._jurisdictions_banning_conversion_therapy.
