The Board of Health must commit to protecting women by tightening controls of any facility licensed to provide surgical procedures. Non-hospital facilities should actually have tighter controls and restrictions due to their inability to provide adequate emergency care. The standards should not be predicated on the procedures provided but rather the ability of the provider to care for the patient in unforeseen circumstances where a persons life may be at risk. Abortion providers are likely as likely as colonoscopy centers or dental offices to see complications arise, if not mororso.
