Attendance Records 22VAC40-185-80

Proposed standard states "For each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of daily attendance in each classroom that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs."?   Please clarify.  Is the purpose to determine if a child is present in the center or in a specific classroom? As written this will mean that every classroom will need to document arrival and departure of every child. Example 1:  Infant staff will need to inform the school age staff when an infant arrives or departs. Example 2:  School age staff will need to keep an attendance chart in homework room, computer room, gym with each attendance marked with arrival/departure, even if classrooms are not used for entire time children are present. Also, will the child need to be marked as departing one classroom and present in another?  Example 3: An attendance chart will need to be created for music class, gymnastics, or other special group that may only include a partial group of students from mutlitple classes. Example 4: If children are on playground, staff will need to stop activities and mark attendance and also possibly inform staff in other groups.
