I do not support a step backwards, but do support a step forward. For those practices who are unable to find a LVT, why not encourage your assistant that you feel is qualified to place a IV catheter to get educated and earn a degree in veterinary technology. The AVMA accredited programs available are growing, and available to anyone no matter where in the state you are located. As a practice owner with 6 LVT's it didn't happen overnight. We invested in team members who wanted to learn more, and gave them the direction and guidance to get their degree. Let's be honest.... It won't stop at IV catheters, there will be more that you will want unlicensed personel to do. Help assist with education, learning and growing future technicians so that everyone wins. Clinics, Patients, Clients, and the future LVT's will appreciate this. Taryn Singleton, LVT
