Obviously the PT profession wants to be able to use dry needling, but this belongs to the acupuncture scope of practice because in acupuncture school we spend a lot of time learning about traditional chinese medicine theory, a total of 2160 hours spent of didatic and 960 hours of clinical training to be able to earn a Master's degree. In addition, we have to pass the board exam in the state where we want to practice. If physical therapists are able to use dry needling, it will confuse the consumer/patient in knowing whether he should seek a PT or an acupuncturist for treatment. Completely not right !
