As an individual whom receives dry needling from a Physical Therapist I find it extremely beneficial. Physical Therapists are educated and trained professionals whom specialize in the skeletal and muscular movement systems. Trigger point dry needling is not acupuncture. Using the same instrument does not make it the same practice. The practice differs in both the objective and method of delivery. Many of the comments posted on this board appear to be from individuals whom have a vested interest in restricting the ability of PT’s to perform Trigger Point Dry Needling. In my opinion, to restrict the practice of dry needling by PT’s would be to the determent of patients receiving treatment that is vital to their well-being and ability to function day-to-day without great pain caused by muscular knots.
