Dry needling was key to my recovery from severe nerve and muscluar injuries, and I only would trust my PT to do it as part of my total plan of care. I suffered a serious neck and back injury that left me with very bad nerve pain and muscle dysfunction. I was out of work. My PT helped me regain my mobility and strength. At times, dry needling was used to loosen my traumatized nerves and muscles. Only my PT knew the ins and outs of my issue. So only they could know how needling could be part of the solution. I wouldn't have trusted someone doing only needling to understand the complexity of my problems or the LONG and SLOW process of healing. I have recommended needling to several others suffering from neck and back injuries. If you'd had one, you know how serious and scary it is. Having needling available as one of the techniques your PT can employ is critical. Do NOT stop PTs from needling.
