I have had 2 shoulder surgeries and PT was an essential part of my treatment in addition to exercises and stretches. I had scar tissue and trigger points that you just couldn't get to without dry needling. Dry needling produces extreme muscle stimulation (not the most pleasant feeling, as it triggers muscle spasming, but the end result is worth it). I have had acupuncture and that is night and different from dry needling. It would be a huge imposition for me to have to go to a PT office and then go to an acupuncturist who wasn't involved in any of my other therapy.
