I, Megan Sullivan Kirby, BCBA, LBA, am in support of the proposed changes in continuing education (CE) requirements. As a BCBA, it is also my recommendation that current certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) be required for obtaining and maintaining licenses in Virginia. That would ensure that all licensees meet current standards set by the profession, which are updated periodically by the BACB based on job analysis studies and developments in the field. Such requirements would also emphasize best practice and thus improve the quality of care and protect clients who receive services from LBAs and LABAs.
