There is no valid reason as to why a law abiding citizen should not be allowed to carry a handgun on their person while enjoying our state forests. As many of the state forests exist in remote parts of the state, with no law enforcement in close proximity, it would be prudent to allow citizens to protect themselves while in remots parts of the forests.
Better to allow a person the right to protect themselves and hopefully never have a reason to do so, than to prevent them from being able to protect themselves when they most urgently need to do so.
