PTs are doctors of muscles and movement and are extensively educated in anatomy, so why wouldn't we be able to perform a highly specialized technique that is specific to muscles and movement? Trigger Point Dry Needling is an intramuscular Trigger Point Release and not accupuncture--to compare them would be like saying that a massage and a spinal manipulation are the same because you are using the same tools--your hands. The education and training required for the technique are appropriate and extensive and the technique has been an essential tool in helping patients in pain restore function and normal movement patterns. Please do your research and inform yourselves on TDN before claiming that PTs are infringing on accupuncturists practice act!
