PT's who are properly trained in the rationale and technique of utilizing Dry Needling have another tool in their box to assist their patients with trigger points that are hindering movement and functional activities. I personally experienced the dry needling technique to decrease pain, increase movement in my right shoulder. I never realized that the trigger points deep in my neck and lateral trunk where one of the reasons I had so much difficulty. Deep tissue work did not break up those trigger points - Dry Needling did! PT's are movement specialists and have the necessary educational background to utilize this techniue in order to assist their patients.
