Voting is a privilege; ensuring that individuals are eligible to vote and understand the rules is essential to the integrity of the voting process. In my opinion, the priority should be to ensure that anyone completing the Voter Registration Form clearly understands and affirms that he/she is a citizen and cannot be a convicted felon or a person ruled mentally incompetent in order to vote. Listing those voting requirements and requiring would be voters to check three boxes affirming that he/she is eligible to vote ensures that voter registrants fully understand voter eligibility and forces affirmation of such. The integrity of our voting system is at stake here.
