Medically inappropriate regulations must be removed

As currently written, Title 12, Agency 5, Chapter 412, Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities, are medically unsound and are driven by ideology rather than science. They are designed for one purpose: To prevent access to a safe and legal medical procedure which offends the religious beliefs of one segment of the population. The rights of this interest group to believe and worship as they please are in no way impacted by the equally fundamental right of women to access a full range of reproductive health care, including the right to terminate a pregnancy. While I see that some of the comments defending the current regulations feign concern for the "welfare" of women, their cut-and-paste claims contradict established medical science and best practices and are intended only to disguise these commenters' actual goal of preventing women from obtaining abortions. Others do not even attempt to conceal that objective, nor its religious motivation. Demands for public health policy based on religious preference rather than sound medical science should be deemed invalid from the outset.
