It is my understanding that the Board has decided to review and possibly amend the Virginia abortion clinic rules previously approved by Board members in April 2013 by a vote of 11 - 2. It is also my understanding that the Board members didn't receive ALL (actually NONE) of the important inspection reports on the abortion clinics but were given, instead, some 'complaints' that were supposedly "unsubstantiated". Since this is an extremely important matter concerning the health and welfare of women seeking abortions, I believe the Board members would be in a better position to make a more informed decision if they had access to the actual reports of inspections conducted. In a letter that I wrote to the News & Advance, published on Dec. 2, 2014 (a copy of which was sent to each Board member by me), I outlined in more detail than is available here what some of those violations were in all of the abortion centers listed, most of whom have now been granted 'variances'.
I re-submit the link to the site containing the violation reports and urge you to review actual reports of actual violations which were 'substantiated' at: http://www.operationrescue.org/archives Special Report: Why Virginia's Appalling Substandard Abortion Facilities Must Not be Excepted From the Law dated Sept. 16, 2014 by Cheryl Sullenger/Operation Rescue; and Virginia Excuses Troubled Brigham Abortion Mill, 6 Others From Meeting Safety Laws dated October 13 by Cheryl Sullenger/Operation Rescue.
It is not too much to ask that a woman have all the health protections available as in any other OPERATION for any other procedure when she seeks the services of an abortion clinic. It is not too much to ask that the current Regulations be enforced rather than amended as requested by the Governor and seconded by the current Health Commissioner. The health of women should not be ignored or sacrificed at the whim of political correctness. Please do the right thing for women.
