Relaxing Abortion Clinic Regulations

Abortion is a grave evil. As such, it is our duty to fight to protect the unborn. We realize that eliminating abortion is no small task, but small victories can indeed move us in the right direction.  Each person needs to make sure that the legislators responsible to us do everything in their power, not just give lip-service, to stopping the killing of the innocents and protect the lives of women.  We should not allow child sacrifice anywhere, let alone the commonwealth of Virginia.  Though the government thinks they have the right to murder, God commands us not to. Abortion is a grave evil. As such, it is our duty to fight to protect the unborn. We realize that eliminating abortion is no small task and there may be justifiable limited reasons for some women to seek this alternative.  But, we will be asked, on the last day, why we didn't stop the killing of God’s children. How will we answer?

In addition, for women’s safety, all medical practices where surgeries are performed should meet surgical room safety standards and the physicians should be required to have admitting privileges. That just makes sense.

Currently, the Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, is trying to relax legislation regarding abortions. If he is successful, it will be much easier for abortion clinics to operate in Virginia, as they will no longer be required to meet the Regulations for the Licensure of Abortion Facilities (12 VAC 5-412) and the 2010 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities.

This is harmful on two fronts: first, since these clinics will no longer be held to hospital grade medical standards it will be cheaper and easier for these clinics to both open and operate thus making abortions easier to obtain and more widely available. Second, this creates a danger to women seeking abortions at these clinics as the quality of care required will be relaxed which will open them up to potential infection, injury, and even death.  This, too, is potential harm to women.

Abortion of the innocent is murder... those who have no voice to try to save their own lives.  We must speak up on their behalf.  And, we must protect women from the dangers of substandard facilities... they deserve no less.

Thank you.
